Healthcare taught me how to build a business. Business is where I ended up.
My professional life began in healthcare. I trained as an osteopath and, in 2016, founded Laryn Allied Health in Queenstown — starting as a single practitioner and building it, over the best part of a decade, into a multidisciplinary clinic. Running that business taught me most of what I know about business generally: hiring, marketing, pricing, cash flow, and the hundred small decisions that decide whether a service business makes it past its first few years.
That experience pulled me steadily toward the business side of things. I founded BAITL, a venture exploring where healthcare and technology meet, and more recently moved into business brokerage with Barker Business Brokerage — helping other owners think through the sale of what they've built, or find the right business to buy. I'm still Clinical Director at Laryn Allied Health, still curious about new ideas, and still based in Queenstown, where most of this has taken place.
